Doon Valley Officers Cooperative Housing Society Ltd

DVOCHSL is a premier housing society of Dehradun which was registered as a cooperative housing society in 1966, under the Uttarakhand Cooperative Society Act 2003. Main objective of the society is to provide residential plots on ease to Gazetted officers of central and state govts as well as class I officers of PSU’s Nationalised banks and commissions established by Government of India/State Govt. It is a self financed Society and does not receive any aid/grants from the Government.

Society is commonly known as Vasant Vihar Society and is spread over 200 acres of land owned by the Society. Society has a total of 660 plots and was
developed in 2 phases. Phase 1 has 297 plots and Phase 2 has 363 plots.

As the plots have been given on perpetual lease, the transfer of lease of plots/house can be done only with the prior permission of the Society. As per the Bye-Laws of Society the leased plots cannot be sub-divided.

The road network within the society, a Shopping complex, Community hall and 14
parks have been developed in the Society area which are maintained by the
society.

MANAGEMENT

General body

Supreme authority of Society vests with the General Body, which is constituted by 50 elected delegates. Decision on major subjects such as deliberation on the audit report, balance sheet, annual income and expenditure accounts, sanction of budget estimates for next financial year, declaration of dividend and any matter referred by Committee of Management, are taken in the General Body meeting.

Committee of management (COM)

The society is managed by an elected committee of management which has 8 members elected by delegates of 8 wards, and co-opted members. COM has full powers to manage the affairs of the Society as per the provisions of bye laws of the Society.

Elections of representatives

Election of delegates and members of committee of management are conducted as per the provisions of Uttarakhand Cooperative Societies Act 2003 under the supervision of Cooperative department. For election of representatives the members of the Society owning plots have been divided into 50 groups and 8 wards.

Delegates

One delegate is elected from each group. These 50 delegates constitute the General Body of the Society. At present there are 42 elected delegates.
